The Corrib Gas Dispute

“There has to be an Independent Commission set up to look at the optimum location for the Corrib Gas refinery. There needs to be a political solution.

In the Orkney Islands off Scotland the local community got 200 million sterling and are living off the interest. The people of Erris should have got that sort of money. That would fund the R312 and the N59. The money from the gas will be used to support pension plans in Norway, along with crèches, schools and hospitals. Yet 100 miles away from the source of the gas there are people on trolleys in Mayo General Hospital because of lack of money” said Dr.Cowley.
